Weekend Filled with FUN

We had a fun-filled weekend! Starting the weekend off Friday, August 21st Tre and I went to our nearby park Aviara to meet up with our play group. We hung out for a while, Tre chased a ball, walked around with his friends, climbed the stairs then sliding down the slide (with Mommy's help of course) and sort of wandered around the park a bit. It started getting close to nap time and he mood immediately changed. We went home so he could take a nap. He woke up from his nap around 5:20ish and after Jammer got home from work, we got ready to go to Jazz in the Park for the last time this summer. It was a fun event, we had a good size group of friends and their families from our play group so Tre had plenty of things to keep him occupied. He only tried to escape once and that was to go see a family sitting close to us and what they had going on with their kids. Tre went to bed quite a bit later than normally and it was starting to show towards the end, but we all had a great time!

Our friend Suzanna posted a cute video on her Facebook from Jazz in the Park, I thought I would link to it so you could check it out as well...

Saturday, August 22nd we took Tre to a Rock'n Sprouts in the morning to get a picture taken. Then after that we took Tre home for a much needed nap. After his nap and when Jammer got home from surfing we got ourselves put together so we could head down to Ocean Beach to meet up with some of our friends. While Jammer surfed (again, hehe) Tre and I went on the hunt for food because we were both VERY hungry. When we finally got back to the beach Jammer was done surfing and we got packed up and went over to our friends' The Perry's house. Now that Tre is walking I think him and Connor (The Perry's son) have much more they can do with each other. Better interaction and able to just play near each other better. They were much more interactive with each other and giving each other hugs and everything. So sweet! After hanging out there for a bit we went to eat dinner with everyone. Tre and Connor sat next to each other at dinner and snacked on foods together and even fed each other. Tre was super tired by the time we got in the car so he fell asleep before we got home.

Sunday, August 23rd we had plans to go up to my sister, Jennifer's house for a family BBQ with my Mom's, Mom's side of the family (did that make sense?). This was the first time my Grandma & Grandpa Aranda had met Tre so that was important in itself to be there! It's amazing that 4 weeks prior we were at my sister's house and Tre was just walking from person to person and this time he was running around the entire house just cruising on his own. So cool! I have to say, some people warned me that when Tre started walking it was going to be very difficult and to not push it, but honestly, I love that he can walk! I don't have to carry him all the time and he is much more independent (as long as he isn't getting into mischief which I'm sure will happen plenty of times now). He is happier because he can get to where he wants to go when he wants. So for family gatherings, hanging in the house and places that are safe for him to wander around at, it is a great thing that he can walk. My back isn't hunched over helping him walk anymore (which was KILLING me) and I only have to pick him up if he wants me to or I need to remove him from a situation or place he shouldn't be. Anyways, we had a great time at the BBQ and Tre is getting much more active in what is going on with the family. He even is taking on my Dad in a yelling match. I think he can keep up pretty well! I took video of Tre and my Dad yelling at each other saying "I GOT YOU". Such a crack up!

First video from Sunday is on the drive up to Orange County, Tre was playing Peek-a-Boo with me...

Tre says Tutu

After Tre's afternoon nap on our anniversary we went over to Jammer's parent's beach house to take Tre in the jacuzzi and hang out. When we got there Jammer's Mom wasn't there yet so we went around the house asking Tre where his Tutu (Tutu is a common Hawaiian term which means Grandma) was and eventually the word "Tutu" came out. So I decided to video him saying "Tutu". He has fun cruising around the house so he was enjoying me following him around.

Happy 4 Year Anniversary!

It is our 4th wedding anniversary. We had decided we should do something (with a little motivation from Jammer's Mom who offered to watch Tre so we could get out for a bit - Thank you)!

Originally we were going to try and make a big deal out of it and do something like going to see Wicked in Downtown San Diego, but costs started to get pretty high as we tallied up all it would entail for dinner and a play. Figuring we are trying to conserve as much money as we can we decided to stick with a nice dinner and a movie thing. Just getting out for husband/wife time is value in itself.

We went out to a sushi restaurant near the movie theater and then went to see Harry Potter in IMAX 3D. We felt so funny wearing the 3D glasses! The last time either of us wore 3D glasses was when we went to Disneyland as kids and saw Captain E-O.

Unfortunately, only the first 15 minutes or so was in 3D (there were some cool 3D previews as well though), but it was pretty cool!

Earlier in the day we had a nice time at the park where my friend Rachel and her adorable daughter Ava met us. We ate Submarina and walked around the park with the kids as they both cruised around. Ava and Tre were so cute together chasing each other and even trying to give each other a kiss. However, Tre's balance still isn't so great yet so when he went in to kiss Ava he grabbed on to her, lost his balance and they both went tumbling down (which then resulted in a couple tears). After that they were a little more cautious with their hugs and kisses. Hehe.

Then today was a bit more family and Tre oriented. Tre decided that he didn't want to take a morning nap so I took Tre to his play date at his friend Robert's house and then brought him home for a nap. Jammer went surfing while Tre and I were the play date, then he brought food home and we hung out until Tre woke up from his nap. After Tre's nap we went over to his parent's beach house where his Mom was at to take Tre in their jacuzzi and hang out at the house for a bit. Then I brought Tre home to feed him dinner and get him ready for bed while Jammer and his Mom went to pick up some Thai food for dinner. We ended up having a yummy Thai dinner with Jammer's Mom after Tre went to bed and hung out for a bit chatting.

Now the day is just about over (so tired and ready for bed). But all in all it was a good anniversary. Just happy to be able to spend the past two days with Jammer and Tre, plus having Jammer's Mom here to help out was great as well!

Tre is 13 Months Old

Now that Tre has passed his year mark I am thinking...woah...my baby is not a baby anymore! He's becoming a little man. Now walking and practically running at times it is amazing what a year involves with this little guy!

I'm worried that now that I am not doing weekly updates I am going to forget to post something because the days are flying by. I'm reviewing through all my pics from this month and going to post some stuff just for the record and at least tell a few stories (that I can remember) about the events that took place throughout the month. If I don't write it down, it never happened in my head, hehe, that's how bad my memory is now. Basically if I don't take a picture, I won't remember that day. Pretty sad! But oh well...I do what I can.

So let's see...the past month...
  • Saturday, July 11th we had the photo session with Roon at Rock'n Sprouts, which I posted a blog post about here.
  • Sunday, July 12th was Tre's family birthday party at the pool which I posted a blog post about here.
  • Monday, July 13th Tre had his 1 year check which I posted a blog post about here.
  • Tuesday, July 14th I bought Tre a blow up pool to put on the patio and after we woke up from his afternoon nap I decided to let him play with it (without water) and see how he liked it. He thought it was fun but it was a little too breezy at the time to fill it up and let him play in it.
  • Wednesday, July 15th we took Tre to the beach, he took some of his first steps and captured a few videos which I posted a blog about here.
  • Friday, July 17th I took Tre to a play date at a place called Pannikin and then that afternoon I decided to let Tre play in his blow up pool for a little bit.
  • Sunday, July 19th we went to the beach and Jammer's Mom came with us.
  • Monday, July 20th to Sunday, July 26th I had done a post on the events of the week in this blog post here.
  • Monday, July 27th I took Tre to San Elijo Park, I'm excited to take Tre now that he is walking because they have a cool water park area that the kids can walk around and get squirted a bit with water.
  • Tuesday, July 28th Jammer had to leave for Palm Springs that day, so my Mom came down to watch Tre while I went to my monthly Board Meeting for our Homeowner's Association. Here is some more from this day here.
  • Wednesday, July 29th my Mom, Tre and I went to see this kids band called Hullabaloo play at this Children's Boutique (in the patio area in front of the boutique) which was lots of fun. There was a lot going on. Originally I didn't think that Tre would be able to make it because he had been sleeping well past 11am but he decided to take a short nap that morning so we ended up heading out pretty quickly to make it to the show. My Mom ended up going home that night after Tre went to bed.
  • Thursday, July 30th Tre and I went to the park before his afternoon nap and then we anxiously awaited Jammer to come home from Palm Springs. Tre was missing his Daddy. That afternoon when Jammer got home Tre was very excited and wanted to play with his Daddy.
  • Friday, July 31st we got our new car!!! We ended up buying a BMW X5, my lease is up on my BMW 325i on August 25th so we had been looking for a new car. Our old roommate Martin works for BMW of San Diego so we decided to go down and visit him and we got ourselves a great deal. It took pretty much our entire middle of the day to get everything signed. Tre was such a trooper, he didn't fuss at all and he was very sleepy when I drove him home. We took him to the park after his afternoon nap and he was practicing his walking, you can see it here.
  • Sunday, August 2nd we took Tre to the park, it was a nice day and there was a great breeze coming through the park so we picked up sandwiches and went and helped Tre walk around the park, he walked his Mickey Mouse airplane and let Tre investigate the play area. Then that afternoon after Tre woke up from his afternoon nap we met up with our friends/neighbor's The Holschlag's and The Dendy's at Ponto Beach.
  • Monday, August 3rd I completed Tre's Birthday Surfboard Display for his room, you can read about it here.
  • Tuesday, August 4th I took Tre to the Quail Botanical Gardens for Free 1st Tuesday of the month. We had a great time and I got some cute pictures of Tre giving me his adorable smile. However in the afternoon he WOULD NOT take his afternoon nap and fought it even thought he looked SO tired that his eyes were red. But since he wouldn't take his nap I figured I should take him somewhere to entertain him so I went to the Cole Library for a kid's puppet show that was going on. Some of our friends from the play group were there so Tre had fun doing that. He was pretty tired when we got home.
  • Wednesday, August 5th we went over to our friend Sarah's house for a play date with her daughter Elizabeth. Tre and I were a little late because of his nap but actually was woken up by a roofer making some noise on the roof so even though I was upset that he woke Tre up, it worked out because we had somewhere fun to go.
  • Friday, August 7th Jammer had the day off so we ended up going down to BMW of San Diego to get our bluetooth code (the code wasn't with our paperwork so we had to take it down there so their computer could read the code info). So we decided to stop by my old work San Diego Volvo and say hi to some of my old co-workers (San Diego Volvo is right down the street from BMW of San Diego). They hadn't seen Tre since he was like 6 months old. After that we went home and put Tre down for his nap and then decided to go to Jazz in the Park. That was where the WALKING happened. You can read about it and see it here.
  • Saturday, August 8th our friends' The Olthuis' came into town so Jammer ended up surfing with Cameron while his wife and kids hung out on the beach. Tre and I met up with them after Tre's afternoon nap so we had a nice late afternoon on the beach at Grandview.
  • Sunday, August 9th...Tre's 13 month birthday...we had a VERY full day. We met our friends' The Perry's, Stuart and Andy at Petco Park in Downtown San Diego for a Padres' Game. Tre's very 1st Padres' Game, it was such a bummer that Jammer had to work but I'm sure there will be plenty more as Tre gets older. Then Tre took a mini nap on the way home from the game and we decided to meet The Olthuis' at Grandview. I was bummed we didn't have our swimsuits because the water was really nice. We got a little wet and Tre rode him in his diaper due to his shorts being pretty wet and sandy.
  • Monday, August 10th...I'm including this date because this is the date of the picture I took of Tre at the top of the page was taken since yesterday was such a busy day I didn't have time to take his monthly picture next to the Boppy, so this day is included. Also Tre learned to say Cyrus today. Cyrus was sleeping on a chair and Tre went over to him and gave him a hug and then tried to pet him (rather hard I must say, but Cyrus was a good kitty and took the beating without retaliation, he must really love Tre too). I tried to take a picture of Tre giving Cyrus love, but they all turned out blurry.
In the language department Tre has added some more words to his vocab (granted some of them are a little mumbly, but he is attempting to say them)...
apple, dinosaur, cheese (which I love to hear him say because it sounds SO cute), bear, bird, block, Cyrus (sounds like Siss), raisin, "No Barking Noa", shoe, hat/bat, and chicken.

A new "trick", I guess you could call it, that Tre does on command is when we say the word "BOOM" he usually bonks his head on the couch or floor (we try not to say that word unless he is next to something soft, hehe). I'm not sure exactly how it started but it's something he does when he is playing on the couch with us. Tre decided he liked that and got up and kept practicing his walking. Jammer will say "BOOM" and he'll ram his head on the couch and do it a few times as long as we say "BOOM". Silly Boy!

Tre is WALKING

It's official, my little boy is WALKING! We went to Jazz in the Park last night pretty much last minute because Tre ended up taking a bit longer afternoon nap so we figured we had a little more time than normal so we jumped in the car, picked up some sandwiches from Submarina (which worked out great because if you buy 1 sandwich combo you get a kids sandwich combo for $1 - totally worth it) and went over to Calavera Hills Park for the 3rd to last Jazz in the Park for the summer. Two left and they are all done for 2009.

We finished eating our sandwiches and Tre was being such a good boy hanging out on our blanket and eating, also checking everything out. We were sitting somewhat near the basketball courts so Tre was enthralled in the bouncing balls. This kid LOVES to play with any type of ball, mostly he loves his beach balls. Tre started to get up and as he was holding on to either Jammer or myself he would walk around the area we were sitting in, then he just started attempting to walk away. At this point there wasn't as many people playing in the basketball court next to where we were sitting so we took Tre to that area and stood him on his feet and he took off, raising his hands the whole time! HAHA! It was and is such a trip to just watch him walk around on his own like a big boy! It's going to take me a while to adjust to seeing that!

Now here is a video from Jazz in the Park where Tre is "dancing" which looks a lot like bouncing...

Birthday Surfboard Display

At Tre's Family Birthday party we had our guests sign these surfboards so that I could make a frame display for Tre's room and commemorate Tre's 1st birthday with loving comments.

I finally finished it! I bought a poster frame from Michael's and then painted a sheet of paper as a blue background and then mounted the surfboards onto the paper and framed it. It's up in his room now, which the unfortunate thing for now is there isn't much wall space where Tre couldn't get to it so I had to hang it behind the door but when his door is closed and we are hanging out in there we can see it. That'll have to do for now. But I am very happy with how it turned out. It's simple and cute!
