New Year's Eve

Tre had a strange morning, he woke up at 4am and wouldn't fall back to sleep until 5:30 or so, of course after I climbed in the crib with him because I just couldn't hold myself up anymore to pat his back, he was crying as if he had a bad dream or something was bothering him, very strange! I snuck out of his room at 6am and got into bed until Tre woke up at 8:15am, so our day was pushed back quite a bit. Tre and I ran a couple errands after his breakfast and then he finally went down for a nap at 1pm and slept until 3:45pm. We had plans to go to Ponto Beach at 3pm but of course Tre was sleeping so we were an hour late arriving. However, it worked out that Jammer got off work a little bit early and got home just in time to join us for the beach bonfire new year's eve celebration.

Our friends/neighbors The Holschlag's invited us to meet them and some friends at Ponto Beach for a bonfire and family friendly New Year's Eve celebration. They were cooking hot dogs and roasting marshmallows for s'mores. Yum yum! I hadn't had a s'more in a LONG time. When we first got to the beach we were able to watch the end of the last sunset of 2009 and I snapped some of my very first pics with my new cam. So exciting! I'm sure you will notice a drastic change in the pics from this point on, I already have! I am in LOVE! There was a "blue moon" for the night as well which was huge and awesome!! Definitely helped with keeping it a bit brighter for the night. We hung out till around 7pm, even though Tre had a late nap, he was melting down at about the same time he normally does and wanted to go home. I sat him in his stroller to see if maybe chillin in his stroller in front of the fire would help him relax. It worked for a little bit, long enough to get ourselves ready to go, talk for a bit longer and then he started to let us know he was ready to go. We got home and got Tre into bed, he fell asleep somewhere around 8pm. We then just hung out, yes, rather boring, but I was okay with that. We didn't make it to midnight (well I sort of did, but Jammer did not), but I figured, we'd see 2010 in the morning. Hehe.

Hope everyone had a great New Year's Eve as well...

Here is a pic of some of the group chatting around the fire pit...

Here is my tired little man in his stroller at the end of the night (it was super dark out so this pic isn't very clear but you get the idea)...

And a little pic of Noa before we left the house to head to the beach...

Merry Christmas

Christmas is always a busy time for us but is enjoyed because of spending time with our awesome families!!!

We had a full schedule of events going on for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day! Unfortunately, we had to start out the two days of celebration without Jammer. He had to work on Christmas Eve, so we had booked him a train ticket so he could meet us after work. Tre and I left in the morning to head up to my parent's house. A little while after arriving Tre took his nap (fighting for almost an hour to fall asleep, thinking he wasn't sure about where he was and to be left in the room alone scared him) after climbing in his pack'n play he fell asleep (surprised I could fit). All that work and he only slept for about an hour. He wasn't too happy. Luckily, my sister Ashley was there and that made Tre happy, he loved playing with her and walking her around everywhere. As my Mom and I were putting some food together for the Christmas Eve party. It was time to get dressed for the party and everyone slooowly arrived. Hehe.

Jammer's train was scheduled to arrive in Irvine around 7:45pm, so I had to get Tre put to bed before leaving, that was a task. Finally got Tre down around 7:35pm and knew I had more than 10 minutes of drive time, so I was late picking him up but all in all it worked out. He was able to enjoy the remainder of the party until everyone had to go. After everyone left we went to my sister Ashley's house so we could help her pack up her car with all the gifts she had to bring to my sister's house and then back to my parent's house to get some much needed rest, even though it was pretty late!

Tre woke up the next morning at around 6:20am. We got ourselves situated and waited for the text from one of my sister's to let us know they were all awake and we should come over. While waiting I let Tre watch a show and luckily for us Yo Gabba Gabba was playing at that time so he was very content. He ate his breakfast and drank his drink and watched the show like a good little man. Then we went to my sister Jennifer's house where Tre opened up his stocking stuffers and saw his Santa gift and after a little while began the process of the gift opening. Tre didn't quite get the whole opening gifts thing and would in fact get a little upset with us when we would ask him to come back to the room to open a gift. Jammer got a special gift this year, that I was happy to say he was surprised. I got him a surfboard! He actually picked it out but then I told him it was sold and after a bit of him grilling me for info, he let it go and thought he in fact was not going to be getting a surfboard for Christmas. Hehe! Yay for surprises! Then it was time for Tre to take his nap, so I set up the pack'n play in my nieces' room and he slept for an hour and a half while we finished opening the gifts and got cleaned up to get in the car and drive up to LA to Jammer's brother Justin's house.

After Tre woke up, we got him ready and packed up the car. We got on the road around 2pm and thankfully traffic wasn't too bad and we made it to Justin's house in about an hour. Tre was happy to get out of the car and run around a new place. He had to check out every aspect of the house. Jammer's Mom had gotten him a ball for Christmas so we opened up that gift and let Tre play with it around the house (that helped keep him occupied). We had a great dinner and then opened gifts afterward. Tre was a trooper, it was past his bedtime and he only got fussy just before it was time to leave. I was very happy about that! He fell asleep pretty quickly in the car ride home and so did Jammer, which then soon followed me. Due to the fact that I was the driver, that was a very bad thing. I had to pull over and stop at a gas station because I was nodding off. Scary, I know, which is why I stopped. I bought a Coke and some snacks to keep me busy for the remainder of the drive as well as did a handful of jumping jacks outside the car to get the blood flowing! It helped a ton because I didn't feel sleepy for the rest of the drive. After all the traveling, taking care of Tre and long days, I was EXHAUSTED! As much as I love this time of year, it sure is draining!

But we made it home safely and Tre barely woke to be transferred from the car to his bed, he was a sleepy little guy. We had a great Christmas and got some great things but most importantly was able to spend it with both our families, which we are so grateful for. We hope you all had a great Christmas as well!!

More pics will be posted up with the monthly post coming up on the 9th of January. :)

Guest Blogging

A friend of mine that I have known since Elementary school asked me to be a guest blogger on her blog talking about my holiday family traditions. She posted up the blog today on her site so I thought I would link to it so anyone that is interested could check it out.

Tre is 17 Months Old

Okay, seriously, this month FLEW by. I think I blinked and it was December. It is insane how fast things are going now. Yikes! So there has been some interesting things going on with Tre this month. I say interesting to be as polite as possible regarding Tre's hitting habit. My sweet little boy is a hitter. I've had to put him in many time outs this month to explain to him that we do not hit. I've caught him trying to hit his friends in addition to me and Jammer. I feel like I have to protect others from him sometimes. I don't think he is doing it so much to be mean, but just as an action. He isn't angry when he does it (to his friends, sometimes he is upset when he does it to me or Jammer) but mostly he just does it, like when he sees a ball and goes to kick it. It is driving me CRAZY!! Hopefully my continuing to be consistent regarding the situation will soon help it to dissolve and pass this phase as quickly as humanly possible!

November 10th was a chill day, we just hung out and then ran some errands.

November 11th I had my friend Tina's son Gibson over after nap to watch him for a couple hours. Tina and her family were moving, so I offered to watch Gibson for her so she could focus on the move. That afternoon I took Tre and Gibson down to the grassy area of our complex to walk around since they were going stir crazy in the house. I ran into my friend/neighbor Monet and her son. We had a little run in with a rude, bitter neighbor. Tre was playing at Monet's house in the grass and began to run and as I was going to get him and picked him up the rude neighbor yelled at him. She told him to "Get out of Here". It was shocking! I couldn't believe it and nearly flipped my lid, but after telling her to "Shut Up", I walked away. Shortly after that it was dinner time so I took the boys back upstairs (carried both of them in my arms, it was SO hard).

November 12th Jammer had the day off so we went to the park that afternoon, then one of the Mom's in our play group put together a little spa evening. We had booked a place called Nail Lounge for pedicures/manicures/etc.

November 13th we had a play date at Aviara park.

November 14th Jammer's Mom came over to hang with us after Tre's nap. She had planned on hanging at the house while Tre slept so I could go to my Mom's Night Out at Third Corner Wine Bar.

November 15th it was my sister's Ashley and Jennifer's birthday bbq dinner. So after Tre's nap we went to my parent's house for dinner.

November 16th Tre and I just hung out and ran some errands. I have been having a funny experience with him, he goes to this particular book sometimes to poop. It's like his area. I took a picture of him reading his book because I thought it was hilarious!

November 17th we went to a park play date that afternoon. Tre LOVES roaming around parks. He is all about the space to kick the ball around.

November 18th we met my friend Sarah and her daughter Ella at the park.

November 19th was Noa's 4th Birthday, here is the post regarding that. We met Jammer's Dad at Pat & Oscar's for lunch and then went to the park.

November 20th we went to my friend Sarah and her daughter Elizabeth's house for a little morning play date. Then that afternoon we went to a park for a play date and my friend Rachel, her husband Josh and their daughters Ava & Olivia met Tre and I there. I can't get enough of the Ava and Tre friendship, Ava yells for Tre and Tre yells for Ava. It cracks me up. If Ava can't see where Tre is, she'll yell "TRE" and then Tre will respond "AVA". So cute!

November 21st Jammer's Mom came down to hang with us for a little bit and then Tre and I met some friends at Pizza Port for an early dinner. Here is a video of Tre just before bedtime being a silly boy, click here to see the video.

November 22nd Tre and I met Jammer's parents at the Encinitas Street Fair. Fun afternoon walking around checking out all the cute booths. That morning Tre was being a feisty little guy so I thought I'd video him, click here to check it out. And here is another video from later that morning of Tre singing the "Hot Dog" song from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, click here to check it out.

November 23rd Tre took a 3 hour nap. We had a play date planned with Tre's friend Gibson, but we were pretty late due to Tre's long nap. So we only got to hang out for short while, but it was fun. That evening I met my friend Selena at the movies to see New Moon! I really liked it!

November 24th Tre and I met some of the Moms in our play group at Batiquitos Lagoon for a nice morning walk. After Tre's nap we went to the park for some play time. That night I had my monthly board meeting which was interesting with all the drama with the rude neighbor and her evilness towards children. All in all, the meeting ended on a good note and hopefully things will change for the better around here.

November 25th was the day before Thanksgiving so after Tre's nap we ran some errands to get some stuff for the food that I had to make to bring with us. I was in charge of making fresh cranberries and the yams.

November 26th was Thanksgiving and I posted a post here.

November 27th Tre and I went to Costco after his nap and hung out there for a bit.

November 28th was a rainy day, so we were cooped up in the house in the morning and then after Tre's nap the weather still wasn't so great so I decided to keep Tre in the house for the day, which was quite the task because he is not a huge fan of staying indoors all day. He would run to the patio door and yell "OUTSIDE" constantly. So distracting him was a must. Books, music and his favorite shows. He also started clapping. This is something that I wondered why he hadn't done much earlier in his life, but for some reason he never really clapped until now. Here is a cute video of Tre saying "Uncle John" regarding a picture he saw of his Uncle, click here to check it out.

November 29th Jammer had the day off so when Tre woke up from his nap we got ready and went to lunch at Oggi's Pizza. Tre was having a blast, there was football all over the TVs and he kept saying "FOOTBALL" and point at the TVs around the restaurant. He really got into the clapping, with all the people watching the game and clapping when they saw something they liked he would clap too. It was a fun time and Jammer had a grin from ear to ear during lunch because he was just so stoked to see Tre clapping, laughing and commenting that we were watching football. Haha! After lunch we took Tre to the park down the street from Oggi's. We hung out there for a bit while Tre played on the play ground and kicked his soccer ball around. Fun day!! Here is an adorable video of Tre clapping and talking at Oggi's, click here to check it out.

November 30th was a different scheduled day, Tre woke up at 4:45am and then went back to sleep at 6am, then he slept until 8:30. WOW! I had to go to my doctor's office and get more blood drawn. Fun fun! Oh the joys of trying to get pregnant. Luckily Jammer worked the late shift this day so he could take care of Tre while I got my blood drawn, we all decided to go for the ride to La Jolla and then on the way home grabbed some food. After Tre's nap, which didn't begin until 1pm and ended at ?? I took him to a park play date, the play date was scheduled for 2pm, but of course because of the off day, we were late. We had fun for the short time we were there. I think due to Tre's schedule being thrown off today he had a hard time going to bed, he didn't seem tired when I wanted to put him to bed and he was very clingy. Eventually he fell asleep, but not until around 8:20pm or so, which is almost 2 hours later than he normally goes to bed, however would make sense with his waking up at 8:30am even though he did wake up earlier in the morning. Days like today keep my on my toes and remind me that just when I get comfortable with the way things are schedule-wise, things can change at any time.

December 1st I took Tre to the Quail Botanical Gardens when it first opened. I love getting there first to let Tre roam around without so much worrying that a bigger kid is going to plow him over. We stayed for a little over an hour and then it was time to get him home for a nap. After his nap we hung out at the house, read some books and played until Jammer got home from work. Here is a video of Tre eating some oranges and being silly, click here to check it out.

December 2nd we went to Moonlight Beach to meet up with some of the Moms & Kiddos from our play group to go for a walk on the beach during low tide past Swami's and then back. Tre was obsessed with going to the water when I let him out of the stroller, the kid loves the water. It was a great walk and gosh, I love this place, it is SO BEAUTIFUL!!

December 3rd Jammer had the day off and we decided to go to In and Out for lunch, Tre had some burger and LOVED it. We came back to the house because Jammer's brother John was in town and wanted to see Tre. We went outside and pushed Tre around in his car and John rode the skateboard which Tre loved since he has a new interest in skateboards (ahh..scary). After John left it was time to get the little guy fed dinner and off to bed.

December 4th Tre woke up pretty late that day so our schedule was thrown off. Once he woke up from his nap we went to the Outlet Mall and met my friend Selena and her daughter Madi to wander around the mall till dinnertime. The kids played on the little rides they have there and Tre loved pretending to drive the boat. It was funny!

December 5th was a mellow day, Tre and I went to Costco in the morning and then we hung out at the house in the afternoon until Jammer rushed home from work so he could see Tre before Tre went to bed. When Jammer works the mid-shift at work he doesn't get very much time to spend with Tre so if at all possible we try to wait until he gets home to put Tre down for bed, sometimes it happens and other times Tre is too tired.

December 6th was my niece's 16th birthday dinner at my parent's house. It was a big celebration, she invited 5 of her friends to have dinner and her Godparents were there as well. My parents decked out the dining room for her and her friends to dine in and we all ate in the other room. Jammer was the Head Waiter (which he didn't know about until he arrived at my parent's house), my brother in law was the Head Bus Boy and we all just helped where we could. It was an entertaining evening. Tre was all over the place having fun with the kids. My nieces and nephew are so good with him, it's great!

December 7th was a rainy, blustery day. Thank goodness we had a play date scheduled on this afternoon. However, Tre decided to take a 3 hour nap so we were an hour late to the play date. It all worked out though, Tre got to play with his friends and enjoy the fun. They had set up a little cookie decorating table for the kids and Tre got a hold of a spoon with frosting on it, YIKES.

December 8th I took Tre to a morning play date over at my friend Sarah's house. Tre loves going over there, he loves their back yard and all of the fun toys. He took another long nap (3 hours) so Jammer and I were anxiously awaiting him waking up so we could eat lunch, we were starving!! Finally when he woke up we went to get sushi and then took Tre to see Santa. Here is the blog post regarding Santa, click here.

December 9th Tre and I ran some errands after his nap and then came home to wait for my Mom to come down. I had planned a Holiday Lights Tour and she was coming down to join me for the festivities. To read about the Holiday Lights Tour, click here.

As each month passes, I stumble more and more over his age when people ask me. The first year it's like okay he is getting a month older, now that he is past 12 months it is going so fast that I forget that he is a month older each time. It never slows down. As the holidays are approaching I am anxious to see how Tre handles Christmas morning and all of the festivities. I wonder if he is going to get into opening presents or just want to go do something else. We shall see!

Here is a collection of pics from Tre's 16th Month of Life:

Holiday Lights Tour

I had put together a Holiday Lights Tour with some friends from our play group and invited some others as well. The Holiday Lights Tour was set up with Top Dog Limo Bus Company. You rent a limo bus for a few hours and they drive you around San Diego to see some houses with tons of lights.

Our meeting spot was at the La Costa Grill which is walking distance from my house so my Mom and my friend Edith met at my house and we walked over to the restaurant. While we were waiting we decided to have a drink. Yep, after over 2 years of no alcohol I had a beverage. I decided to have my old school fav beverage, raspberry vodka and 7up (it was a featured drink at my wedding). I'm glad I only stuck to having one drink because I could definitely feel the effects after a few sips, yes, I am a total LIGHTWEIGHT. Which is fine, less expensive that way. Besides, I'm not a big drinker so I don't anticipate getting back into having a drink every so often. Like to keep my head clear in case my little man, Tre needs me at any given moment. But it was a fun little buzz to have for the beginning of the night.

Now on to the night story, it was a really cool experience. They decorated the bus with a holiday theme and the driver had a great game plan. She had destinations in mind but asked if I had any preferences, I pretty much left it up to her though since I didn't really know the places to go for lights.

She took us to Tierrasanta first to see this home that was AMAZING. There were SO many lights and they had it set up to music on a certain radio channel, so we set our radio inside the limo to that channel and we were able to watch the lights work with the music on the station as well as some talking they had, it was really cool. My friend Edith took some videos of this house, to see those videos you can go to:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Px2v5UmT_B4
This house has a website for those of you that want to go check it out, the site is called Belardo Lights at www.belardolights.com.

After that stop we went to Santee and drove through a neighborhood called Starlight Circle in the Sunburst Santee area. It was a great display as well. They even had people selling stuff on their driveways. There was kettle corn, hot chocolate, even lumpia and other snacks at this one house.

Then we were off to Coronado, which I was really excited about since I used to work right across the street from the Hotel Del Coronado. Our driver took us to the Hotel Del where she dropped us off to go into the hotel and check out the Christmas tree which was awesome. We took a bunch of pictures.

After Coronado we were running out of time so our driver took us through Balboa Park for a drive by and then back to La Costa.

There was 12 of us and I think everyone had a great time!! I hope to do this again next year, maybe with a larger group now that we have experienced it once and maybe I can plan it a little bit further in advance.

Tre meets Santa

I was going back and forth on the necessity of Tre meeting Santa. More leaning towards the fact that it really isn't necessary at this age since he doesn't really know who Santa is or really understand Christmas yet. BUT, the outlet mall near our house has a Santa and the other day when I was there I saw the "Santa House" and there was no line. So I thought hmmmm...no line, well it could be worth a shot.

So after Tre's nap we went to grab some food and then head over to the outlet mall to meet Santa. Now Tre isn't the type to get overly nervous around strangers but most often it is because either Jammer or I is holding him or there with him.

We go into "Santa's House" and Tre looks at Santa and isn't quite sure what to think. I talk to Santa while holding Tre. Then it is time for the picture, Santa tells me to back Tre up to him and sit him on his lap, so I do that. Tre immediately gets a sad face expression on, so the photographer tries to capture a shot before he melts down. Which happened pretty quickly, he was saying "No" and trying to squirm for me.

We reviewed the pictures that the photographer took and he was pretty upset in the pictures. So we decided to try a family picture with Santa and Tre didn't cry since we were holding him. So we ended up getting a family picture with Santa instead of just Tre.

After the fact, I kind of wished that I had gotten one of him alone to start the tradition, but oh well.

It was an experience.
